La montaña sagrada. The Holy Mountain, Director: Alejandro Jodorowsky, Mexico/USA, 1973, colour, 114' English language, Czech subtitles
A representative of the decaying European society, (Coke-culture kid, or a Latin-American desperado?) Alejandro Jodorowsky sets off on a pilgrimage to Holy Mountain and breaks all the taboos along the way. At the same time, we are confronted with a sacred, initiating work which is a response to the author’s theory of changing humankind through films. Films can be more effective than LSD, they will enlighten the audiences, and then there will be a new Big Bang. Meanwhile, the storyline of the film is relatively simple. A man, conspicuously resembling Jesus Christ, gets to a tower where he is received by a master alchemist and introduced to the seven lords of the solar system. In their company, he heads for the sacred mountain to wrest the secret of immortality from the seven sages who live there.
