A poetic film directed by František Vláčil was inspired by the last four years in life of the poet Karel Hynek Mácha (1810-1836). Playing with the double meaning, the title (period transcription of Mácha‘s famous poem Máj) attempts to hint at the magic power of the Romantic poet, whose work and life are inseparably intertwined.
