Dániel Varró

Dániel Varró (1977), Hungarian poet and translator, born in Budapest. He studied Hungarian and English Language and Literature at the University of Budapest. He started to publish as a teenager in the best known literary magazines where his poems were praised for their masterly use of rhyme, rhythm and wordcraft. Author of four poetry volumes, works for theatres and translations. He translated Shakespeare (King Lear, Romeo and Juliet) and contemporary Irish drama. Prizes: 1999 Prize of the Bródy Foundation, 2002 Zsigmond Móricz Grant, 2003, Petőfi Prize, 2003 IBBY Children's Book of the Year, 2004 Attila József Prize, 2009 Best New Hungarian Drama Prize.
